My friends and I have three important things in common: We love Manhattan, we love boats, and we love Prosecco. We were able to take advantage of two of these things (boats and Prosecco) on our amazing trip to Cape Cod, so when that trip ended I decided that sailing in NYC would be the perfect way to keep the summer vibes going.
Sailing in NYC
I chartered a sailboat from Narwhal Yacht Charters last year for a friend’s birthday and had a blast, so I knew my fun-loving friends would fully appreciate another sail. I emailed our trusty captain and owner of Narwhal Yacht Charters, Eric Puleio, and booked our sail.
Eric provides the food, including sandwiches, chips, fruit and soda, and of course, we provided the alcohol. Bring on the Prosecco!
The sail lasts for four hours and takes you from Pier 25 in TriCeCa, past Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Governors Island, around the tip of Manhattan, and up the East River past Brooklyn and Long Island City.
We fully enjoyed our girl talk, but were happy to have Eric act as tour guide from time to time, and he was even able to answer our NY harbor historical questions. If you have any questions about any of the boats passing by, he’ll be a wealth of information as well.
We even got a chance to take turns steering the boat. It’s not as easy as it looks!
If you’re looking for a different way to experience NYC, try sailing in NYC with Narwhal Yacht Charters. We can’t wait to do it again!
